this is a "practice blog"

to translate a website into another language
(when you suck ass at coding)

since i wanted to commit to making my website, i made a "to-do" list. one of them was to translate the website into japanese. it was quite a challenge with the content i have already put into the website (the art gallery....... its not that much, actually)

i started off by putting the japanese version of each pages into a folder. this was very good for organizing. it was awesome until it came to me to translate the art gallery.

now translating each comment and warning wasnt really a problem.... i can do it if i locked in enough. (and i did!) the problem was, if i were to put the japanese version of the website into a folder, then it could NOT access anything from other files that are in the same hierarchy or the parent. this was especially a problem because i put all of my art into a folder.

i was already tired by scouring my art to find something to put on the website, so i just left the problem at there, leaving a page for japanese people looking at the website (which is most likely 0) that if they wanted to see my art gallery they unfortunately only have the english version. aaand i left my keyboard to take a shower.

the page i put in place for the japanese art gallery... it says "sorry youll have to use the english version"

during the shower, i was thinking of how i should manage all of this. how to make these two versions of the same website be able to access the same resources so i dont have to copy it and bloat the storage every time....

but then, i thought of something. just.... ditch the folders. the file organizer can organize it if you put a "marker" in the name anyway. (like "jp_art", "jp_home"....)

i felt like fucking god, man. being able to think of a solution without google searches. i mean its really stupidly simple but i felt like a genius........
ive always had this "mind" of organizing everything in folders, but once i thought of just ditching the folders i felt like a moth coming out of the cocoon.

...after i finished showering i immediately went back to work. i named all of the pages in the "jp" folder with "jp_" in front of the name. then i cut all of them, and moved them into the main folder, and just deleted the "jp" folder.

after adjusting all of the hrefs(well i kinda missed some but i fixed all of them ok.), i immediately went to translate the art gallery. my hands started to hurt a little after rewriting so many lines of strings but it was kind of fun.
translating your own writing in another language feels like one way to review your writings, because it makes you attentive to each word.... well i cant say it because im not really a writer and i dont write shit at all. (well, ill try to become one!)

now all that is left is to code a blog page for my website to put this in........ fuck man... i forgot all of the javascript....

tldr; problem solving is fun. folder hierarchy is confusing as fuck.

P.S. (july18) i aint need javascript..... also i moved the images to an external storage anyway so it doesnt matter anymore....
